“Iceman" lands at Macka’s

August 2021

Macka’s are excited to welcome Texas Iceman R725 into our program.

It's not every day you find a bull with pedigree, data set and phenotype. When Macka's family came across him, they just had to have him!

Macka’s are always searching for sires to add to our already solid sire battery with a pedigree stacked with generations of consistent high-performance and maternal strength that can breed to a high level every year, not just a one-off.

Iceman comes from generations of maternal strength deriving from the well-respected "Undine" cow family. His dam Undine H647 has bred exceptional bulls, including last year's high sell bull Texas Powerplay P613, and her sons have averaged over $37,000.

Then you consider Iceman's Grand dam Undine Z183, which has done the same in selling around $1 million worth of bulls and could breed exceptional females simultaneously. Actions speak louder than words, and as you continue to go back through his maternal pedigree, you can see the consistency of high-performance breeding.

Iceman’s pedigree also includes his sire who comes from a very strong maternal base. The Poss herd in the USA is well renowned for their maternal power and consistency of breeding. Maverick replicates all of those traits.

Then you look at his data set which offers a great balance of easy calving, low birth, high growth, excellent fertility and milk along with a nice balance of carcass data without extreme. We believe his data will only improve over time.

Phenotypically Iceman ticks our boxes. He is structurally sound with excellent feet and legs which is combined with tremendous length of body which makes him so well balanced. He has a well laid in shoulder with impressive neck extension which gives him real presence and sire appeal. He boasts an outstanding head and jaw, along with a great carcass. He has width across the top which extends right down the hind leg and his skin is as soft as silk which demonstrates his easy doing ability. To top it all off his temperament is second to none which is key in our program.

This is why we are so excited to have Iceman join our sire team and we look forward to the influence he will have in our program and can’t wait for his first calves!!!
